Jameson Rodgers Inks Recording Deal With River House Artists/Columbia Nashville

Sony Music Nashville and River House Artists announce the signing of singer/songwriter Jameson Rodgers to River House Artists/Columbia Nashville.

“Today is a dream come true finally getting to sign this record deal. It’s been such a journey getting to this point. Since I moved to Nashville I’ve dreamed of not only signing a record deal but specifically with a Sony label,” said Rodgers. “It’s an honor to get to work with River House and Sony together. I look forward to seeing what the rest of this year and beyond brings!”

Rodgers, a Mississippi native, moved to Nashville in 2010 to pursue a songwriting and artist career. He signed with Combustion Music in 2014, and has since had cuts including Florida Georgia Line’s “Wish You Were On It” and their latest single “Talk You Out of It,” as well as Chris Lane’s new single “I Don’t Know About You.” He has independently released two EPs, the latest featuring streaming hits, “Some Girls” and “Missing One.” They have been featured on Spotify’s New Boots and Wild Country Playlists along with SiriusXM’s On The Horizon, and a new single is expected later this year. Rodgers is slated to open Luke Combs’ Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour beginning Jan. 31 and is also one of three artists chosen for the CMA Kixstart Artist Scholarship inaugural class. He is managed by Red Light Management’s Shawn McSpadden and JP Durant, and booked by Darin Murphy and Sam Forbert at CAA.

In conjunction with the signing of Rodgers, Sony Music Nashville and River House Artists officially announce their exclusive, long-term joint-venture agreement, effective immediately. Their first collaboration commenced when multi-Platinum artist Luke Combs inked a deal in 2016 to record for the River House Artists and Columbia Nashville imprints.
“The entire Sony Music Nashville team is thrilled to be furthering our partnership with River House Artists. Lynn’s A&R instincts and passion to nurture and develop artists make her an incredible partner,” said Ken Robold, SMN COO and EVP. “We are very excited to have Jameson Rodgers as our first signing. His combination of incredible songs, work ethic and desire to be on the road growing his audience is inspiring. We can’t wait to embark on what will be an amazing partnership together.”

“I am ecstatic to be extending my River House partnership with Sony Music Nashville. We work really well together and I have never felt anything less than 100% support and commitment to my vision and the artists we develop together,” added Oliver-Cline. “Jameson is the perfect fit for our next launch together. Everything about him is genuine, and his passion for writing great songs and playing great shows is highly contagious. His record is going to be very special and there is no better team to bring it to the masses. I can’t thank Randy, Ken and the SMN team enough for being the best partners to me and RHA.”

MITCHELL TENPENNY SET TO APPEAR ON NBC’S “TODAY” JAN. 8, ACHIEVES COUNTRY’S BIGGEST NEW ARTIST DEBUT OF 2018

Breakthrough singer/songwriter Mitchell Tenpenny achieved country’s biggest new artist debut of 2018 last week. On Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, Tenpenny made his first album entry by amassing 20,000 units of his Telling All My Secrets (Riser House/Columbia Nashville), the best first-week showing for a major label country debut album last year.

Named one of the Tennessean’s “Next Nashville Stars” for 2019, Tenpenny’s Telling All My Secrets was last week’s second-highest charting non-seasonal country album claiming No. 5 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart (total album equivalent consumption) and No. 1 on Nielsen Music’s Top Current Country Albums chart (traditional album sales).

Next week Mitchell Tenpenny is set to perform the Gold-certified No. 1 airplay smash “Drunk Me” during the 9 am hour of NBC’s TODAY on Tuesday, January 8. Featured on Tenpenny’s debut album which released December 14, “Drunk Me” was lauded by the New York Times as one of the Best Songs of the Year (all genres) and made multiple Amazon Music “Most Played” and “Best Of” year-end lists.

Telling All My Secrets is available to download and stream HERE.

“What an incredible gift I received on Christmas Eve,” remarked Mitchell Tenpenny. “I was so pleasantly surprised with the news that Telling All My Secrets debuted on the Billboard album chart in such a huge way!

Tenpenny emphasized, “I can’t say this enough: What’s happening in my life right now is something I’ve always dreamed about! I have to thank the producers, co-writers, musicians, engineers and mixers on the album, as well as my incredible fans, friends, band members, management, booking agency, record label and publishing company team members.” He added, “I also send a special shout out to country radio, brand partners, music industry supporters, media critics and other artists who have embraced what I do.

“From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate you all for changing my life in 2018!”

Growing up on Music Row under the watchful eye of his grandmother, industry veteran and first female CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Donna Hilley, Tenpenny is no stranger to the Music Row houses where he crafted his Riser House/Columbia Nashville debut album. The soulful vocalist wrote 56 songs in preparation for the album narrowing it down to 11 strong tracks, which include his No.1 hit, “Drunk Me,” and the singer/songwriter’s next single, “Alcohol You Later,” due out in January. (See complete track listing below.)

Mitchell Tenpenny, who recently made Pandora’s Artists to Watch in 2019 list and became a MusicRow  2019 Next Big Thing honoree, co-produced “Drunk Me” with Jordan M. Schmidt and co-penned the song with Schmidt and Justin Wilson. Now totaling over 150 million streams, “Drunk Me” officially impacted country radio on March 26, garnering 60 combined Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase stations. With 52 Mediabase adds, this cinched Tenpenny’s impact add week total to be the best for a country debut single in two years. In fact, the last country artist to achieve this many impact week adds was Tenpenny’s label mate Maren Morris with her debut single, “My Church” in January 2016. Upon its release, “Drunk Me” also made chart history by achieving the highest entry ever for a new artist on Nielsen’s On Demand Audio Core Country Streaming chart. The single debuted at No. 39 with a total of 1.5 million streams.

Recently, Tenpenny announced taking the celebration of his album release to the people who have supported him all along: the fans. His “Telling All My Secrets Album Release Tour” launched December 8, in Rome, Georgia and continues through February 1 with stops in 11 cities with special guests, up-and-coming artists Adam Hambrick, Seaforth and Ross Ellis. RYAN HURD WELCOMES 2019 WITH FOUR SOLD-OUT SHOWS, HIGH-PROFILE “ONES TO WATCH” RECOGNITION

RCA Nashville’s Ryan Hurd is kicking off 2019 in style, topping the bill for four sold-out shows while his new single – “To a T” – hit No. 1 on the SiriusXM The Highway’s Hot 30 Countdown and is set to hit local radio airwaves next month.

Hurd will headline capacity performances in Los Angeles (1/17), New York City (1/25), Chicago (2/23) and Nashville (2/28) at legendary venues The Troubadour, Bowery Ballroom, Joe’s on Weed, and Exit/In, respectively. To celebrate the anticipated tour, Hurd debuted new release “Michigan for the Winter” today (1/4) on all digital retailers and streaming platforms. Listen and download here.

Meanwhile, the rough-cut romantic has been tapped by AOL as one of their country artists set for a breakout year, and was the genre’s only artist named to SiriusXM’s “Future Five” class of newcomers.

Those aren’t the only media gatekeepers paying attention. Praise for “To a T” has poured in, with Amazon Music including the “gorgeous ode to intimacy” (Wide Open Country) in its year-end Best Of list. Cowboys & Indians lauded the “swoon-worthy lyrics” and The Boot opined the track “oozes romance, love and the intimacy that comes from truly knowing a partner.”

The acclaim is earned. The native of Kalamazoo, MI is one of Nashville’s most multi-dimensional young songwriters. He has co-penned some of the format’s biggest hits including “Lonely Tonight” (Blake Shelton), “You Look Good” (Lady Antebellum), and “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” (Luke Bryan).

With the release of his own music, fans are discovering the fuel that drives Hurd is often love with all its avatars. Inspiration is in close proximity. Multi-platinum RCA Nashville recording artist Chris Young is “one helluva country singer” (Music Row) and one listen to his “rich baritone” (The Tennessean) and there is no doubt he was “Raised On Country.” “A traditionalist in an era of boundary movers” (New York Times), the 33-year old Young pays homage to his predecessors and country music icons Merle HaggardWillie NelsonJoe DiffieGeorge StraitAlan Jackson and Hank Williams Jr. in the just-released single, “Raised On Country.” Officially impacting radio on January 28, the track, written by Young with co-producer Corey Crowder and Cary Barlowe, is available now on all platforms HERE

“I was raised on Merle, raised on Willie
Got my Honky Tonk attitude from Joe Diffie
Daddy did too, it’s family tradition
When someone cranks it up, you can’t help but listen
My upbringing sounds like George Strait singing
And I gotta give props to the radio, ‘cause if you know me
I was raised on country”

“This song is a country anthem and so much fun,” shared Young. “I couldn’t be happier to kick off a brand new year with brand new music I love this much.”

Over the last three weeks leading up to the release of “Raised On Country,” Young offered fans the chance to vote on artists to cover and he gave weekly acoustic performances of “Silver Wings” (Merle Haggard), “Chattahoochee” (Alan Jackson), “The Fireman” (George Strait) and “ Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox ” (Joe Diffie). During his career thus far, he has had the honor of recording with Willie Nelson – “Rose In Paradise” found on Young’s Platinum certified The Man I Want To Be – and Alan Jackson – “There’s A New Kid In Town” found on Young’s first-ever holiday album It Must Be Christmas. He’s also had the opportunity to tour with both Alan Jackson and George Strait.

Multi-platinum country entertainer Kane Brown has been selected by the Associated Press as a 2018 Breakthrough Entertainer of the Year. The “boundary-breaking country star” (AP) is one of eight entertainers spanning a range of actors, comedians and musicians whose distinguished work earned them a spot on the annual year-end list, with the AP noting “it is hard to imagine what entertainment might have looked like without them in 2018.”

Brown is the only country artist to be recognized on the list, which includes film stars Awkwafina and Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Golden Globe nominee Elsie Fisher, Award-winning Comedian Hannah Gadsby, Grammy nominee Ella Mai, Actress and Producer Natasha Rothwell (HBO’s Insecure) and Actor and Producer John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman). Brown’s full Associated Press feature is available here:http://smarturl.it/kbapbreakthrough.

On the heels of a record-breaking 2018, the Georgia-native continues to add to his year-end accolades, with country radio recently naming “Heaven”  this year’s #1 Top Country Airplay song on Billboard and the #1 Most Heard Country song on Mediabase/Country Aircheck. LUKE COMBS NOMINATED FOR BEST NEW ARTIST AT 61ST GRAMMY AWARDS

Luke Combs is nominated for Best New Artist at the 61st GRAMMY Awards. The live awards ceremony will be broadcast on CBS from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 8:00 pm ET/7:00 pm CT.

The recognition adds to an already monumental year for the breakthrough singer, songwriter and performer, who recently won New Artist of the Year at “The 52nd Annual CMA Awards.” Additionally, Comb’s Platinum-certified debut album, This One’s For You, is Billboard’s Top Country Album of 2018 (River House Artists/Columbia Nashville). Since its release June 2, 2017—79 weeks ago—the album has spent a total of 20 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, including 16 weeks in 2018—the most of any album this year. The only other country album to achieve 16 weeks at No. 1 in a calendar year is Chris Stapleton’s Traveller.  The first four singles—3x Platinum “Hurricane,” 2x Platinum “When It Rains It Pours,” Platinum “One Number Away” and Platinum “She Got The Best of Me”—have all reached No. 1 making Combs the first solo artist to score four consecutive career-opening No. 1’s on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. Moreover, his new single, “Beautiful Crazy,” is the first country single shipped to radio already Platinum-certified since Taylor Swift’s “Red” in 2013.

Combs will embark on his largest North American headline tour in 2019. After selling out the “Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour” spring leg, Combs recently confirmed select summer shows, including Columbia, MD’s Merriweather Post Pavilion, Gilford, NH’s Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion and Alpharetta, GA’s Verizon Amphitheater. Once again, Combs’ official fanclub, The Bootleggers, will have first access to tickets through a Ticketmaster Verified Fan pre-sale, which begins Wednesday (12/12) with general on-sale starting Friday (12/14). Since the release of This One’s For You, Combs has been named Billboard’s Top 100 Artist and Top New Country Artist of 2017, “Best New Country Artist” at the iHeart Radio Awards, Music Row’s “Breakthrough Artist Of The Year” and 2017 Artist To Watch by Amazon Music, Billboard, Bobby Bones, CMT, HuffPost, Nashville Lifestyles, Pandora and Rolling Stone.

This One’s For You was produced by Scott Moffatt (except for “One Number Away,” which was co-produced by Sammy Mitchell and Jackie Boyz) and recorded in Nashville, TN at Gold Cassette Studios and Direct Image Recording Studio. “2018 has been a big year” after the “high-energy five-piece band” (Rolling Stone) closed out the first leg of their debut headlining run in front of a sold-out crowd at Nashville’s Cannery Ballroom on Friday (12/7); the same building where they signed their record deal on the spot with Sony Music Nashville six years ago. While “dazzling thousands” (Hits Magazine) the “arena-rock leaning band” (Entertainment Weekly) is “at the top of their game” (Pitchfork) and has rapidly created a loyal fanbase with more than 400 shows as the featured act and with sold-out club runs in major markets such as New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Coincidentally, the hometown show fell nearly a year after the 2x Platinum single “Greatest Love Story” became a multi-week chart topper followed by the release of their No. 1 selling debut album HALLELUJAH NIGHTS. Both pivotal moments were historical in Country music as Lancaster became the first artist in 10 years to have a No. 1 on the chart solely written by that artist while LANCO serves as the first Country group in a decade to appear at the top of the Billboard Country albums chart with a debut album, which now boasts over 423 million streams. “2018’s best Country debut album” (Tampa Bay Times), paved the course for national television performances including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, TODAY, The Bachelor and Dancing With The Stars. LANCO “won admirers among its peers” (Billboard) as they earned nominations this year from the ACM, CMT, CMA and American Music Awards and Lancaster became the first member of a group to ever win NSAI’s “Songwriter/Artist of the Year.” Their distinct southern storytelling with a modern punch of rock and roll continues to unravel as they head back to the studio with award-winning producer Jay Joyce to begin recording their sophomore album.
